OUR STORY

Juslin Maunula was founded by Fashion Designer Laura Juslin and Architect Lilli Maunula in 2016. Since, the fusion of fashion expertise and architectural vision has birthed a creative space that both serves as a Design Studio and as the designers own distinctive Brand, breathing new life into once forgotten materials.

Juslin Maunula brand has a unique focus: crafting designs from discarded textiles, transforming them into home products, wearables, and installations. The designers creative journey involves sourcing unsold surplus rolls from past decades, showcasing the beauty inherent in these discarded materials.

Juslin Maunula’s approach is characterized by the intelligent use of materials, coupled with an open and experimental mindset. Each product is designed in Helsinki by Laura and Lilli, with a great passion for colour and texture. Produced in limited series, the products are skillfully crafted by talented seamstresses in the EU.

Working with random batches of surplus textiles adds an element of serendipity to the process. The availability of each product depends on the size of the textile batch, and new items are introduced as drops as they are designed.

As a Design Studio Juslin Maunula has worked with renown Finnish and international brands such as Marimekko, Artek and Kalevala Koru and has achieved great visibility and recognition for their work. In 2022 Juslin Maunula was awarded as Young Designer of the Year in Finland and was longlisted among the top 20 emerging Design Studios of 2022 by DEZEEN. Additionally, the studio achieved global recognition, being selected as one of the world's top 6 emerging Design Studios by D la Repubblica Magazine in 2023.
